Paul Juillerat, ‘Three Reds’, aluminum and acrylic paint, 2008. Photo: Paul Juillerat.I have always been interested in painters who use colour intensely. As a sculptor I have this desire to draw my experiences of paintings into my work. Artists like Patrick Heron, Howard Hodgkin, Frank Stella and many others have influenced the shape and colour of these contemporary pieces; sculpture definitely, paintings in space perhaps, but ultimately a profound leap in my work to unite the two.
